On Tuesday 19th March 2019, thirty children, represented the school in the annual Year 4 Skipping Competition. This was held at Morley Leisure Centre, where five schools also participated, 150 children competing in total. The event was split into individuals, pairs, two long rope teams and a skip dance. The whole event was
amazing. The children were all brilliant in their own events and when they all came together for the skip dance, it was fantastic to see. Choreographing the skip dance has been one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my job. I have spent hours and hours at home trying to work out different ways for the (30) children to showcase their amazing skipping skills to a song, in as many different ways as possible. I also wanted the song to be one no one else would use - I used a George Michael/Billy Idol Mash Up (Careless Rebel). Then came the part where I had to teach it to the children. After three, two hour sessions, where I worked them so hard, it all fell into place last Friday and I am so proud to show you the finished product. They were ALL absolutely superb at the competition!! A huge well done to every single one of the children for their wonderful behaviour, sportsmanship and determination throughout the afternoon. You were ALL awesome!! Mrs Fletcher.
