How will the curriculum be matched to my child or young person’s needs?
Class teachers differentiate all learning according to the abilities and needs of each child.
In Key Stage 2, Maths and Guided Reading is taught in ability groups, across the phase (Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6).
Children with a specific need will have a personalised Pupil Passport which will detail their personalised objectives. The Class Teacher will plan for these objectives and manage the support required for these to be achieved.
Sometimes, a child will be part of an Intervention Group which will target an identified need for specific skills, knowledge or understanding. Thisis taught outside of the classroom in small groups.
Occasionally, a child may need a specific piece of equipment, furniture or software in order for them to access the curriculum fully. This will be purchased or hired by the school, following advice from the relevant professionals.
